HOW AVALON WORKS

How does one heal? In Avalon, we have found a key in the intuition of a mother and in a way humans have always found peace and wholeness - to be held in love. If we can create a space with this resonance, a place that is truly safe and that can hold, our bodies can feel safe enough to release our pain and in connection to others, to heal.

Over the past twenty years, at the same time as Avalon was emerging, there has have been a significant advancement within the psychotherapy community in the understanding of trauma, how it is stored in the memory of our bodies, and how it expresses itself in behavior and health.  The emergence of somatic therapeutic practices alongside traditional cognitive approaches has also expanded in acceptance.  However, while the effects of trauma on the body are beginning to be understood, the methodologies for releasing them and bringing lasting healing, particularly with preverbal trauma, are still nascent.

Here is why WE believe this is, and how Avalon takes the next step in contributing to the field of somatic healing. Hint, it comes from how humans have always achieved wellbeing and a core principle of Avalon, healing in connection.

SURRENDER INTO OUR RELATIONAL NATURE.

Avalon is a set of practices and methodologies that pulls from psychotherapy, most significantly psychodrama, transpersonal-, and integral psychology and developed through my intuition and experimentation.  This work is delivered through group processes and one-on-one coaching.  Community and connection are essential to this work. The love, care, and connection that one receives from a community has always been an essential healing salve for humanity and is core to Avalon.

The modalities of healing in Avalon work.  Many who have experienced it share common feedback, they feel they have come home.  That what they experience in the relationships and transformation in their lives feels like a homecoming, how things are meant to be.

STAY IN THE MYSTERY OF NOT KNOWING.

How does this healing in Avalon happen?  It starts with a willingness of an individual to take the first step by leading themselves, being vulnerable with the group, and with openness, to see themselves in the other.  We call this the meeting point.  When a group begins to tune in to what is alive in themselves and share vulnerability, others are touched.  When touched, things move.  The practice of the meeting point is a safe and easily integrated method that can facilitate healing.  In some ways the practices are natural, but spaces that can feel safe enough to allow someone to surrender to feel their pain fully and heal are rare.

ACT WHEN TOUCHED.

Healing requires that a person can be held in love by others to the degree that they can find the radical trust, transformative courage and raw determination to surrender into their pain or subconscious patterns and thus release the contractions and reclaim their sovereignty.  This can’t be done just through one-on-one sessions or taught in a curriculum.  Avalon recognizes this and provides an appropriate container for healing.

As an individual’s trauma is released in the body and they are held in by a community through their integration process, stable self-led leaders emerge.  Accessing more of their core self, new capacities present themselves leading to increased grounding.  These capacities include an increased awareness and compassion for others together with an ability to stand in power.   Further, in those who grow through Avalon, we observe increased spiritual awakening, clarity of purpose, and capacity for action.

ALLOW LIFE FORCE TO MOVE THROUGH YOU.

While Avalon is a modality for healing for trauma, what emerges are the stable, conscious, and powerful leaders that the world needs.   As these leaders heal, they can begin to see beyond just their own pain and then to see themselves in connection to others and to source.  Avalon is not a spiritual modality and people from many religious traditions participate together.  But what we have found is that many experience a spiritual awakening as they heal. As we receive first, and cleanse from within, and our authentic self that longs for connection for the divine emerges.  This resultant increased devotion to source and to humanity elevates their capacities as a leader.

Avalon was a coming home — to myself. My previous continuous search for results in personal development has been replaced by a sense of solid ground.”
